The husband of a friend of a friend….(did you follow that?)…well, this Soldier is currently serving in Afghanistan. His family is awaiting his return in Ft. Drum, NY and always looking for ways to help and recently they found a worthy cause.

Below is what she posted to Facebook to help spread the word:

The 101st is in Paktyka Province, which is a very remote and austere area in Eastern Afghanistan bordering Pakistan. He said that if anyone wants to send anything, what they really want is things to increase the quality of life for the Afghan children. Shoes of all sizes, winter coats, hats and gloves, backpacks. They don’t need toys or candy. These children just need the basics. Anyone who wants to put a package together, just let me know and I will send you an address!
Taking care of the people of Afghanistan and improving their quality of life is truly what every Soldier wants. So assistance with this goal is the greatest gift we can give the Soldiers.

Initially, I intended to put together a package and send it off, but then I realized that I am connected to some amazing people who may also like to help. You can do this independently or get a group of people together to send a care package. I will be trying to get my box out by the end of this week. If you’d like to donate some things to this cause feel free to swing by and drop things off on my porch.  Those of you that are out of town, I’d love to hear what you make of this, so please share!
