They came into our lives like a whirlwind, turning everything upside down and inside out. They burrowed themselves down deep into our hearts planting roots that tangled with our heartstrings, leaving it impossible to see ourselves without them.

In the blink of an eye, they were three. And somehow, at that moment we must have tripped a button that sent us barreling into the future at an unbelievable speed, because now, they are six. Six years ago these two rocked my world and they’ve kept me on my toes ever since. They are alike in every way and yet different in exactly every other way. It’s an amazing thing to behold, this world of twins.

I’ve been asked what it’s like to have twins and honestly, it’s not something you can just sum up for someone. There are not enough words to explain it, while there are too many to choose from. The best way that I’ve found to describe what life is like with twins is through a picture I took recently. I told this beautiful mama, that while I wouldn’t normally include this kind of image in a gallery, I felt I had to in this case, because it perfectly sums up the daily beauty and battle of raising twins.

Does this help? Do you see? This is twins. In a nutshell. I truly don’t believe it will ever feel any different than this image either? It’s perfect.

So, now that I’ve given you a peek into what it’s like, I’m going to show you what six looks like. Although they are very similar in many ways, they are so very different in others. I can see the incredible men they will become, it shows itself in moments I least expect it.

But before I go dreaming of their future selves, I will savor them like this, because this is six. And this is now. And I’m so very grateful.
